Aims

The aim was to safeguard and promote the clock and watchmaking heritage of the canton of Neuchâtel, largely by supporting projects and the acquisitions of objects, and organising a range of events.

It is headquartered in Neuchâtel, at the Musée d'art et d'histoire, and is made up of individual founding members from the world of politics and culture, and the presidents of the friends of the museums associations who attended the charter meeting, and the members, whose admission was subject to the approval of the Association's committee. The association is presided over Ms Nicole Bosshart former Deputy Director of the Musée international d'horlogerie.

Created for this first large-scale project, the Automates & Merveilles (Automata and marvels) exhibition, which brings together three museums and major collections from the canton's three cities around a single theme, namely the genius of two Jaquet-Droz' and of Leschot, their descendants and followers, the Association committed to extending the project which will take place simultaneously at the Musée d'art et d'histoire de Neuchâtel, the Musée international d'horlogerie in La Chaux-de-Fonds and the Musée d'horlogerie du Locle – Château des Monts.
